Under stairs mirrored storage cupboard

One of our customers has just had a beautiful baby boy and needed some extra storage space. She wanted space for her ironing board, clothes airers and room for her Henry hoover. She had a fairly small hallway and didn’t want the space to feel smaller.

Ryan our master craftsman discussed many options with the customer and a mirrored under stairs cupboard was decided upon. Doesn't it look great! Read on to learn more about the construction...

After creating detailed drawings and discussions with the customer it was time to start construction. We build our furniture flat packed for easy transportation. The unit is made with MDF and the internal layout allows for adjustable shelving.

The unit is fixed in place with a space at the back, behind the cupboard for the ironing board and clothes airers. The door is on runners for easy access. A great little hiding place too!

As you can see the internal area has been left in raw MDF. This could have been painted if required but we think it looks great as it is!’

Whilst we awaited the mirror to arrive the customer filled the cupboard with Ikea trofast boxes. A great way to organise storage. The space at the bottom right hand corner is perfect to fit the Henry hoover and his accessories!

Once the unit in place and we've started hanging the doors. We make sure everything is spot on and fully functioning before we send off the doors to the glaziers to ensure accuracy.

Here are the mirrored pieces ready to be fitted. The customer requested push catches for opening the doors so no handles would be seen. Great idea but not for mucky fingers!

Here it is all finished... Another happy The London Craftsman customer!
